St Louis area church report

Church Offering Security: Prosecutors on Thursday charged a 36-year-old Edwardsville woman with stealing about $5,000 from Trinity Lutheran Church. The suspect, Elizabeth R. Klaas, was the volunteer treasurer of the Parent Teacher League of Trinity Lutheran School, said Stephanee Smith, a spokeswoman for the Madison County state’s attorney’s office. Klaas, of the 400 block of Buena Vista Drive, was accused of embezzling the money between June 1, 2007, and June 1, 2008.

It is vital that you church have accountability measures in place to prevent this type of abuse. Oversight and audit must be maintained.
