One of our older members had his pacemaker malfunction today during the service. Our nurses were on the problem quickly, and the ambulance got there quicker than we had been told to anticipate. We are rural, and generally expected emergency personel to take longer to arrive.

A couple of the team forgot where the AED/First Aid kit was at. So the area needs to be better marked. This is also a training issue I need to look at.

All in all everything ran semi-smooth. The situation was well in hand before I was even notified of the event.

Just another good reason for a team, IMO.

A team, or even an informal group of willing volunteers, is good to have. Earlier this year, during a multi-church meeting, one of the congregation complained of chest pain and numbness. I did not witness the start of the incident, since I was helping the secretary secure the offering, and by the time I returned to the sanctuary, a team leader, our pastor, and a couple nurses had everything well in hand. The only thing I needed to do was pass along some info to the nurse making the 911 call. Turned out no problem; more stress related.
