I apologize for the irregular spacing in my previous post. I still can't explain why it turned out that way!

I’ve given my security presentation at churches several times. Part of the presentation is the study of selected church shooters and their though processes. Of course this is a tragic topic and not one that most churchgoers want to think about. Trying to break the morbidity, I ask a trivia question about who Martin Luther King’s mother was and what happened to her. Not one person has gotten it right yet.

Her name was Alberta Christine Williams King and she was killed by a gunman on 6/30/74 as she played the organ at the Ebenezer Baptist Church. The gunman, whose name was Marcus Wayne Chenault, killed her because he thought, "all Christians are my enemies."

We recently upgraded our security system at church. The company spokesman showed all the key holders how to arm/disarm the system, and where the different panic buttons were and how to operate them.

When he was explaining the one that summons Law Enforcement, he mentioned the recent Knoxville church shooting and a few other incidents I've been trying to press to our people. Having an 'outsider' talk about the same incidents seemed to open some eyes as I surveyed the looks on peoples' faces.

It is interesting how an "outside expert" seems to carry more weight. Glad to hear that you were able to add the system

One dead, two injured in church shooting.

It appears to have been related to domestic violence.

Not sure if this qualifies, but it involved church members at an official church function, although not in a church building.

5/27/08 New Castle DE

Church leader killed by church member upset regarding church policy and the construction of a new building. The attack was stopped by others in attendance.

Note that the offender had two semi autos and 150 rounds of ammo. What do you think his intentions were?

November 23, 2008 – A man accused of driving across the country to fatally shoot his estranged wife and another man inside a New Jersey church confessed to the shooting rampage, a Georgia prosecutor told the Associated Press.

Walton County Assistant District Attorney Eric Crawford said Joseph Pallipurath, 27, gave a videotaped confession on Tuesday, hours after he was arrested at a motel 40 miles east of Atlanta. Crawford says Pallipurath told investigators he would have killed everyone in the church if he'd had a machine gun.

Pallipurath told authorities he was unhappy that church members were blocking his attempts to contact his wife, who had left him three months ago, the Associated Press reported.

Pallipurath is suspected of shooting and killing his wife, 24-year-old Reshma James, inside the St. Thomas Syrian Orthodox Knanaya Church in Clifton, a suburb about 15 miles west of Manhattan.

Also killed was Dennis John Mallosseril, who maintained the church's Web site. Witnesses said he had tried to intervene and stop the rampage.

A third person, James' 47-year-old cousin Silvy Perincheril, was shot in the head and remains hospitalized in critical condition.
