I was just wondering how many people carry weapons while working church security? If so, do you have to get permission, or do you just carry without anyone knowing?

Carry on my own, kind of 'don't ask; don't tell'. A few know, most don't. My wife also CCW's, and a few others in the congregation.

I also carry pepper spray, fully aware of it's problems and limitations. After reading articles on this site, I'm looking into the expandable batons.

After training with Glen on the expandable batons, I have become a believer and added one to my Sunday attire. It is less messy in the church than OC and effective on almost everyone, including drugged up junkies. No need to wash down the area afterwards.

As we have discussed before, using OC in a church setting where many of the elderly could have breathing issues, I would almost always go to the baton. If you do use OC, make sure it is the jell type and not the liquid that vaporized into the general area. I would want it to stick to the :bad guy:
