Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and thought this thread would be a good place to start since I attended the Gatekeepers conference in Houston, Texas last May, and have been an employee for 3 1/2 months.
Gatekeepers advises churches of various sizes, but specializes in the various aspects of mega-church security. Here's some of what you can expect at the conference..
The conference is about three days long (20 hrs.) and breakfast & lunch is provided. You will be greeted by the owner of Gatekeepers and review the schedule, breaks, and the various speakers will begin their introductions and the meeting will officially begin with heartfelt prayer of thanksgiving & brotherhood.
The speakers will be covering ALOT of information (some very technical, but brief). You will be provided with a binder covering over 30 topics and approximately 10 multi-page handouts. You will cover the Three Strands of Church Security, Terrorism (they know the exact time & place of your services, and that you all are in one room breathing the same air), security systems, etc.
You will watch several real church video surveillance footage & news reports of Disruptive People, multi-thousand dollar thefts in broad daylight for multiple days, etc. and review a number of case studies covering a variety of church security topics such as Sexual Predators (Adults preying on children, Adults preying on adults, and Clergy preying on the congregation, etc.
Hope this helps,
God Bless.
