Woman & Baby Shot By Boyfriend At Church

East Selma, Alabama – This week’s church violence incident is a reminder that what happens at home can easily spill into the church environment. Domestic violence, one of the more dangerous calls a police officer can encounter, is an emotional, drama filled type of crime where the primary victim and those associated with her can become victims as well.

James Junior Minter of Selma was arrested September 20th after he opened fire during services at the Oasis Tabernacle Church in East Selma, Alabama. Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson said Minter has been charged with three counts of attempted murder after shooting his girlfriend, their baby, & the church pastor.

The story on Foxnews.com said that D.A. Jackson reported the woman was Minter’s girlfriend & the shooting was the result of a domestic situation. Witnesses told police the 26 year old Minter entered the church, sat between his 24 year old girlfriend & the baby, then pulled out a handgun & started shooting, hitting her in the jaw & the one month old baby in the hand.

The church’s 61 year old pastor grabbed Minter and was shot in the leg. Church members then subdued Minter & managed to get his weapon. Minter then ran out of the church.
